    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nox --run "nox-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

Thank you for submitting this pull request. CUPS 2.2.6 source is still available under the original URL (I just checked). The download error you apparently experienced seems to have been temporary.

I am going to close this because Version 2.3b5 is a beta version, which we try to avoid in nixpkgs for important packages like CUPS.

However, we could upgrade CUPS to released version 2.2.8. Please feel free to open a new PR if you would like to do that. If you do, please base the PR on the staging branch since it causes a large number of rebuilds.

Thank you for your extensive reply and advise. I'll look into a PR towards staging later this weekend, and be more considerate in the future regarding these basic packages.
