This commit contains three improvements:

  • the default channel used by nixos-rebuild is nixos, not nixos-unstable (am I right?)
  • fix an inconsistency between commit hashes in an example
  • a bit more info on what changing the links in ~/.nix-defexpr implies (based on experience)

There is no nixos channel. See here for the list of channels: https://nixos.org/channels/

@edolstra

There is no nixos channel. See here for the list of channels: https://nixos.org/channels/

This is what I mean by "nixos channel": the channel that is named "nixos" on your system. This exists by default.

# nix-channel --list
nixos https://nixos.org/channels/nixos-17.03

Maybe my reformulation is confusing, but at least it seems to me that it is more accurate than what the manual currently says (since not everyone is following the unstable channel).
