Motivation for this change

Using old version numbers in the manual makes the whole documentation looking outdated.

I think we should merge this once 17.03 is officially released. Otherwise it could cause confusion.

Ah, you mean confusion due to giving 17.03 as a stable example?

I think it's OK to merge that, even now. 17.03 is expected in about a week.

AFAIK it will only show up on the website if it's in the stable branch, so will only appear when 17.03 is released :)
