Motivation for this change

This package replaces libibverbs and librdmacm. The libibverbs package source is deprecated (see #33090). This package also combines both libraries, provides the modules for more recent infiniband adapters, and support for RDMA over Converged Ethernet.

Things done

I don't have access to an Infiniband setup at the moment. Any help testing it is welcome.

  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option build-use-sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nox --run "nox-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

I assume the other packages should die after merging this. Should we open an issue tracking the remaining packages depending on them?

Yes, eventually these packages should be phased out.
I already replaced it for openmpi. Then there are corosync, samba, and ceph left, which depend on it.

  • corosync does not find librdmacm in the configure phase when compiled against rdma-core.
  • samba compiles successfully with rdma-core.
  • ceph is marked as broken.

I can open an issue with a listing once this PR is merged.
