Good idea! Maybe "must" should be "can"? The user doesn't have to do anything.

Well you can't clear the space without rebuilding, and the whole section is predicated on being out of space.

I don't care, though. If you do care, I can change it.

IMHO the Nix manual is not the right place to document NixOS bugs.

@edolstra Is this a NixOS bug / is collecting garbage is the right place to change the bootloader? I didn't think it was a bug, because I didn't think it was.

@grahamc it's NixOS that takes care of /boot/ clearing, so it should be documented in NixOS manual.

also of note is options like boot.loader.grub.configurationLimit which limit how many things nixos will try to keep in /boot at once

Where should this be relocated to? I'd happily move it. (Another use came in looking for info about this bug.)

Also -- it may be useful to redirect people to wherever this moves to, if they check the nix-collect-garbage manual looking for the issue.

@grahamc: there's a GC section in our nixos manual.

It's not really a visible place, but I currently can't see any other suitable location.
