This patch does not solve the issue we're seeing currently. The only thing
I know for sure at the moment is that some change in #2619 was causing
problems. I suggest to revert this pr entirely for now until we know what
went wrong.

As it appears, the problem was there all along and was not related to parcel awaiting. #2698 should fix it properly. |

This should solve the test issues we're currently seeing wrt loosing remote reference counts.
