Motivation for this change

Seems fairly low impact[1] but we might as well patch it until a new 4.9
version is released

As far as I can tell, the only way to get a fix for the cve is to apply the patch from upstream. The issue it addresses doesn't seem all that distressing, however, so not sure if we want to bother with it.
