As reported on various news sites, and currently on the skype linux download page it contains: "Important notice: All Skype for Linux clients version 4.3 and older will be retired on July 1, 2017. To keep chatting, please install the latest version of Skype for Linux."

Motivation for this change
The old "skype" client for linux was deprecated as of July 1st 2017 and may stop working at any time.
(They claimed it would stop immediately, but it does appear to still connect for me)
Dropping it ASAP helps migrate users away before it stops functioning.
Alias added for backwards-compat and because "skype" is what I'd expect the attribute to be called anyway :).
