Each emojicon is assigned a memorable URL using the git.io shortener. Each shortened URL is case sensitive, and each resolves to a unique cloud.githubusercontent.com/... URL. (Git.io disallows assigning the same URL to multiple tags and I didn't want to push my luck by tacking a ? onto the magical github cloud URL.)

Each emotameme's git.io/... URL and cloud.githubusercontent.com/... URL are embedded as images by this document, both to show that they work and to guard them from breaking. GitHub's image hosting feature was probably intended for embedding images into issues, so if we didn't load each cloud.githubusercontent.com/... URL here then GitHub might sensibly try to GC the images since no issues would be referencing them directly. And if we didn't load each git.io/foo URL here then git.io perhaps might try to reclaim the foo tag after a long period of inactivity.

Sadly, the https:// portion of ![](https://git.io/Kappa) is required. I tried shortening it to //, both because ![](//git.io/Kappa) would be easier to type and because it's good practice. It turns out that works for regular links: Kappa, but fails for images: , so there's no choice but to use ![](https://git.io/Kappa).
