Motivation for this change

No NixOS test for this, anyone use it and willing to test? :)

Things done
  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nox --run "nox-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Assured whether relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

Tried vnstatd in foreground mode

$ sudo ./result/bin/vnstatd -n
Zero database found, adding available interfaces...
Interface "enp0s3" added with 1000 Mbit bandwidth limit.
-> 1 new interface found.
Limits can be modified using the configuration file. See "man vnstat.conf".
Unwanted interfaces can be removed from monitoring with "vnstat --remove".
Info: vnStat daemon 2.1 started. (pid:5489 uid:0 gid:0)
Info: Monitoring (1): enp0s3 (1000 Mbit)

Then some stats over 5minutes

$ ./result/bin/vnstat -i enp0s3 -5

 enp0s3  /  5 minute

$ vnstati -s -i enp0s3 -o tmp.png works too
