Motivation for this change

This reverts commit 2a5923a.

Breaks sound, at least for some people.

Things done
  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nix-review --run "nix-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Assured whether relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

Is there some kind of "evidence" that this was the problematic change (and reverting will fix the regression)?

At least for me, I git-bisected it to that commit. In addition I'm currently rebuilding my system on top of this PR to make sure.

I believe the rebuild amount is OK for master, given that it fixes a regression.

Thanks for your opinion. It is a pretty big rebuild, but I was able to rebuild my base system in reasonable time (30min). Reverting the commit did fix the issue, so I agree the rebuild is worth it.

Please revert this revert again as dacc02f (and a similar commit from me on staging) fixes this. Probably not on unstable channel yet.

Verified that @aristidb's fix wasn't on unstable yet. Reverted this and pushed to master to not cause any more unnecessary rebuilds.

The issue in pulseaudio was fixed by dacc02f.
