@andrewrk any background on why these two lines were removed would be very helpful.

Also, only difference I could see between the CI test environment and my environment was clang compiler:

Travis CI

-- The C compiler identification is AppleClang 8.1.0.8020042
-- The CXX compiler identification is AppleClang 8.1.0.8020042

My Mac

-- The C compiler identification is AppleClang 9.0.0.9000037
-- The CXX compiler identification is AppleClang 9.0.0.9000037
