Using a nix client in the store with a daemon that's not seems like asking for trouble. On nixos NIX_REMOTE isn't even set anymore because the client handles this nicely now. |

The socket of the nix-daemon is located in
@localstatedir@/nix/daemon-socket/socket. Therefore setting the environment variableNIX_REMOTEto this path, so that programs that need to communicate with nix-daemon know where to find the socket.
