@hyades can you please take a look at this change. It seems newer ubuntu systems use libav instead of ffmpeg. They appear to be command line compatible.

@mithro the packages python-scipy ffmpeg are not needed for running gst-switch.
I had added them to perform integration tests, primarily for comparing frames. Will check if similar thing is possible through avconv

ffmpeg can probably be replaced with gstreamer stuff. See https://github.com/timvideos/gst-switch/issues/37

Until that is done, we should support avconv so the tests pass on Ubuntu trusty.
