Motivation for this change
Things done
  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS linux)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nixpkgs-review --run "nixpkgs-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Ensured that relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)

Could you please give a bit more details about how you tested it?

There's a daemon that runs in the background (mullvad-daemon) and a GUI (mullvad-gui) that connects to the daemon. I'm using both of them in a normal fashion.

@emacsomancer Consider renaming this PR to

mullvad-vpn: 2019.10 -> 2020.2

before merging, and closing #79797. Thanks!

Should we backport this one?

@Mic92

The latest version of the Mullvad app resolves DNS leak vulnerabilities affecting users who have “Local network sharing” enabled on either Windows, macOS, or Linux. We strongly recommend all users to upgrade.

Yeah, that sounds like a vulnerability to me. I don't see why not.
