Hi! Thanks for the contribution. Sorry this took a while since anyone looked; this repo is really low-traffic and easily gets forgotten :/.

This would need some work to not link to a particular revision, possibly using a template variable; I believe [%latestNixOSBranch%] would fit the bill.

Though, asking to the repo owners: do we want such a link? I personally find the concept not bad, though maybe irrelevant. The github listing for the file is bad, and it doesn't matter much for end-users; this is an information that is better suited (and available) in the nixpkgs manual.

this is covered in nixpkgs manual since it is quite an internal thing. we might consider documenting this in nixpkgs manual better.
