Looking at https://hydra.nixos.org/build/121480040/download/1/coverage/libutil/compression.cc.gcov.html, I don't think these tests will increase our test coverage (i.e. we're already testing everything except gzip). |

I wrote something about unit vs functional tests in the FAQ section of #3622 and asked for some general feedback there. |
