Conversation

Motivation for this change

Still can't run nix-env -i otpgen.

Things done

Added otpgen callPackage to all-packages.nix

  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS linux)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nixpkgs-review --run "nixpkgs-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Ensured that relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

Tested together with #87887 it does what it should. Could you cherry-pick this from #87887 and close here? It doesn't need to be a separate PR, it's fine.

If you use nix-env -i without -A it will evaluate all packages and try to match their name attribute. So in your case, you would need nix-env -i OTPGen.

But it is better to use -A which will find it via attribute name listed in all-packages.nix:

nix-env -iA optgen

That will also be much faster.
