Motivation for this change

It's a couple more lines, but should be more robust.

In the future we may want to use structured attributes for this, though we need to improve then how we pass on attributes from makeTest to the actual driver.

• Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nix-review --run "nix-review wip"

• Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
• Ensured that relevant documentation is up to date
• Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.
