Lix 0.9.29

How should levels be sorted in the levels/network/ directory?

Existing system. Each level knows its author. Each level knows its suggested player count (a single number). In levels/network/, there are directories per player count, and each such player count directory has, for each author, a subdirectory for all levels by that author for that player count.

Problems. Ordering by author is weak. We want to order by play experience or by game style.

Ideas.

  • Introduce tags, then let each level have a set of tags?
  • In the level browser, merge more levels into a single view?
  • Search by age (to find the newest and shiniest maps), search by tag, ...

Tag system spec on Lemmings Forums -- I'm planning to add tags to the level files.

Lix 0.9.41 will read and save tags, but it won't search for tags yet or allow editing. You'll have to use a text editor until a future version of Lix has proper editing support.

I'll keep this issue open until Lix has proper support.
