Motivation for this change

Closes #76144

Things done
  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS linux)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nixpkgs-review --run "nixpkgs-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Ensured that relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

I've used this a bunch and it works. Make sure to run with sudo.

Since the 0.12 version can not peer with 0.11.8 version, I'm wondering if we should keep both of them or not (i'm not a gnunet user).

Keeping 0.11 around will be unnecessary. Almost all public bootstrap peers have been updated to 0.12. And the only other up-to-date packages for Arch and Homebrew do not keep around an old version. To clarify: every minor version change will be incompatible with the previous one: 0.10, 0.9, 0.8 ... are all incompatible with the latest gnunet.
