Many cargo icons are unbelievably ugly, but eh. That has no real relevance, just leaving it here :) |
Hmm... if you think they are ugly, they can always be remade by... uh... someone. And for those who prefer the classic look and feel, so don't want any cargo icons, James103's idea with the game setting would be prefect. |
Thanks for this. There's been no activity on this for some time, and as it stands, it doesn't look likely that it will go any further. I'm closing it as we try to keep the issue count low for OpenTTD, it helps us focus on things that are important and fun. Feel free to discuss in irc or request re-opening if you disagree. Thanks for contributing! |
In PR #7809 the number of different cargo types one industry can produce was increased, and additionally the corporate Industries window became more complex, but more usable than before.

These icons could help you find the cargo type you're looking for, without the need to read each description. E.g. if you are looking for grain, and you know that grain icon in OpenTTD is yellow, you can just search for yellow icons and find it much faster. Especially if OTTD (or one of its mods that adds new cargo types) wasn't translated to your native language, and you have to use a different one.
