when I logged in to 1M city mania the error window pops up... #8310
Comments
I'm sure there is a very important reason for raising an error, but just by commenting line 206 out I can join the game without error. OpenTTD/src/network/network_command.cpp Lines 203 to 207 in 53a3d94

Let me first quote the OpenTTD IRC channel's topic: "'Latest' is not a valid version, 'Most recent' neither" :) |
Ah right, I wasn't aware that they had their own builds. |
The CityMania client is supposed to be network-compatible, with only UI changes. Possibly it isn't. In any case, OpenTTD should ideally not crash in this case, a warning would be nicer... I can reproduce this. |
Ideally, yeah... unfortunately, that error is so deep in the network stack I can't see a way of actually returning an error and then bailing out cleanly... |
Ah ok, I am not computer head I just like open ttd and heroes 3 and I
thought it might help to send a crash, so thanks for a tip

But I assume you meant the official client, version 1.10.3 as can be seen
in the crash log.
However if I am not mistaken, "1M city mania" server is one of the
citymania.org's servers, and they using their own patched OpenTTD client:
https://citymania.org/downloads.
So if you would like to join to that server, you should use their client.

It was an error in citymania server that ultimately caused it, don't think this can be happening with a vanilla server. Though imo there is no need to abort client in such case, just printing error in console is enough. If it desyncs later so be it. |
As mentioned in the last reply, this issue has been resolved! Let us know if it re-appears :) Tnx! |
