Motivation for this change

crossover is not currently in NixOS.

Things done
  • Tested using sandboxing (nix.useSandbox on NixOS, or option sandbox in nix.conf on non-NixOS linux)
  • Built on platform(s)
    • NixOS
    • macOS
    • other Linux distributions
  • Tested via one or more NixOS test(s) if existing and applicable for the change (look inside nixos/tests)
  • Tested compilation of all pkgs that depend on this change using nix-shell -p nixpkgs-review --run "nixpkgs-review wip"
  • Tested execution of all binary files (usually in ./result/bin/)
  • Determined the impact on package closure size (by running nix path-info -S before and after)
  • Ensured that relevant documentation is up to date
  • Fits CONTRIBUTING.md.

@rycee

I get this error at runtime:
crossover: No python interpreter found

Would I need a wrapper to solve this?

This is really frustrating - I was looking here for ideas on how to base my Crossover for Linux (and Mac?) Nix package, but the commits are all gone, and I can't even see the progress. I'm a beta tester for Crossover, so I was hoping to maintain a Nix package. Does anyone know a way to recover the commits? I'd be happy to step up as a maintainer.

Crossover not being in nixpkgs yet is a huge oversite imo

I've forked this branch, but to be honest, Nixpkgs is a volunteer-led project. It's not obligatory to package everything in existence. I'm in talks with Crossover about the i386 packages Crossover requires.
