I need some ideas for a creative and preferably novel way to generate OC power (i.e. no "insert coal -> get power" generators). Yes, it is hard, but there is no hurry. In case you have any ideas, just post them. Once we come up with a decent idea, I'll probably implement it if approved by @fnuecke.

Calling @fnuecke and @asiekierka, maybe you have some or can improve (on) the current one(s).

Current ideas:

  • The Grogergizer™: Apparently some of the compounds grog is made of are sufficiently reactive for using grog in a Galvanic cell. With some weird insulation and electrodes you can turn an Empty Cartridge into a Grog Cell. Place that into The Grogergizer™ (name by @mallrat208) to generate OC energy. Once depleted, you have to remove the cell and clean it before it starts dissolving the generator. You can refill those cartridges with fresh grog a few times before they are so corroded they can't contain grog anymore. I bet if you patch them up a little they can still be used for containing printer ink. Maybe. Depleted grog fortunately still has some flammable compounds, so you can put that into a fireproof cartridge and place them into another multifunctional Grogergizer™ which you then can set on fire to generate a little more OC energy. Once the depleted grog has been completely burnt/vaporized, the fireproof cartridge can be re-used a few times, just like the Galvanic cartridge.

I like the idea of stealing sync's pig on a treadmill.

But we shouldn't make it too obvious we stole it.

So, what about Chickens on a (powered) keyboard?
And they don't generate Piggawatt but LOC - which a PrjMgr™ Block can turn into OC Energy.

A version of the disassembler that converts items into power?

Solar Generator Block? Has a GUI, fill it with the existing Solar Generator Upgrade item to increase the power generation? I dunno...

Blaze in a box?

While a blaze in a box would be an amazing thing (maybe in combination with The Grogergizer™ to actually burn the grog) I have no idea how you would create it with just Vanilla + OC.

Craft Blaze Rods with... SOMETHING... to make an Artificial Blaze, then use that to craft the Blaze In A Box?

Artificial Blaze sounds fun, attach a few blaze rods to a drone case? :P

@fnuecke As that's more "end-game" due to the resources required, it should rather be something to improve the "early-game" power generator. Again, using The Grogergizer™ as an example, it'd maybe remove the need to light the thing on fire to burn grog, making it safer.

Good point. If you make some kind of modular / multi-block generator thingy, it could be an end-game-ish part with higher power yield?

Also faster burn speed of the grog, i.e. more power in less time.

Cola.

Because Cola.

And One Piece.

Needs manual startup (rightclick?) but once that's done it's good to go. Cannot be filled while running. The more you rightclick the faster it goes, if you rightclick too much it explodes in a big cola boom!

A Milk generator. Needs cows near it. Milks them for power and after a while, if new cows aren't bred, they die.

Maybe a flywheel, like they have in data centres? Allow someone to manually rotate it but they take damage if it's going too fast (such as when it's powered externally)

A blaze in a box could be created by making one move into a special blaze box block. To get the blaze there, you'd either need to punch it around a bit, or use a drone to drag it to the blaze box.
Once it's in, it generates power depending on how cold the biome is (the box is made out of thermoelectric elements).
