I didn't even learn until last week that Cloudant has made iOS and Android libraries (one is apparently a fork of Couchbase Lite). This goes to show how hard it is to understand what software is out there that talks Couch replication.

What I'd like is a big diagram, preferably written in canvas and JS, that shows all the major players and how you can hook them together. Something like this:

couch_ecosystem

Shitty powerpoint in case anyone wants it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2588462/pouchdb/20140625/couch_ecosystem.pptx

Oh yeah, also forgot to add the Cordova SQLite plugin in there. See? It's so complicated.

technically iriscouch is just a hosted version of couchdb

True. But this is intended for absolute newbies who don't know the difference (and don't need to know).

Although maybe if it was interactive, we could have a dropdown or something that explains all that.

How about have the space it's grouped to give meaning, so at the top of the diagram is hosted solutions which breaks down to servers, breaking down all the way to frontend pouchdb and their backend adapters

it always shocks me when people use power point to make diagrams ... 😕

@calvinmetcalf At the risk of making myself sound like a "powerpoint guy," the tooling is just really good. This is a quick throw-away, though. For the final version I'd rather it be in some kind of text format so we can easily collaborate, accept PRs, etc.
